Take a trip down gaming memory lane with PlayStation Network.
The original PlayStation redefined the videogame world, bringing incredible graphics and sound into people's living rooms and becoming the first game console to sell over 100 million units. Part of the reason that PS one was so successful was the huge range of fantastic games available for it, games that have stood the test of time and remain great fun to play today.
Now, thanks to PlayStation Network, some of the best of these games are being made available to download to your PlayStation 3 and PSP system. Whether you're an old-school PS one veteran looking to revisit some old friends, or a PlayStation newcomer who missed out on these gems the first time around, the range of PS one games available for PlayStation Network is full of top quality entertainment that is sure to make you smile. Here's a run down of some of the games available now:
Whoever said bandicoots don't make great action heroes was laughing on the other side of their face in 1996 when Crash Bandicoot made his PS one debut to massive critical acclaim and sales to match. Casting you as the titular marsupial, it's up to you to stop the evil scientist Doctor Cortex from taking over the world by using every bandicoot move at your disposal, including jumping, spinning and crate-smashing.
Debuting in 1995, WipEout threw out the traditional formula of racing games, replacing cars with antigravity vehicles that hover over futuristic tracks, and combining a fast and intense racing experience with high-quality 3D graphics. The addition of weapons and defensive items and an unprecedented sense of speed helped WipEout become a massive success that has spawned several sequels.
A unique platform game, viewed from a first person perspective, Jumping Flash! sees you playing as Robbit, a robotic rabbit sent to stop Baron Aloha, an evil and demented scientist. Along the way you'll bounce through beautiful, floating 3-D worlds searching for missing Jetpods that are placed randomly around the level and its numerous smaller floating islands, avoiding many weird and wonderful enemies as you do so. A fan favourite since its release, Jumping Flash! remains a great, genre-pushing game even today, and one definitely worth a revisit.
All these games are available now, and at a great value price. You can also play all the games above on your PSP, so the fun doesn't have to stop when you leave the house! So get downloading and take your PlayStation 3 or PSP system back to its gaming roots.
