Killed by Kratos

PlayStation®2

God of War II's armies of beasties all have one thing in common - Kratos is going to mess them up, good and proper. Here's a small selection of his victims...

The rich world of greek mythology provides plenty of material for Kratos' latest adventure in God of War II. Rather than treat these historical characters with awe and respect, though, you can tear them limb from limb with the Spartan's enviable range of ruthless combat techniques. As a taster, here's a quick-fire look at a few of the many foes who've got it coming to them...

Barbarian Mercenary
Barbarians have dubious personal hygiene at best, but this lot are even worse, since they're already dead - and have been summoned from Hades to fight alongside the Barbarian King. En masse, they can cause plenty of trouble for Kratos when his attentions are best spent on the King - and since they're already dead, they're not as scared of the bald one as they should be. Time to teach a little respect...

Cerberus
Here doggy, nice doggy... Ah. It seems these chummy tactics don't work especially well with the ravenous, razor-toothed Cerberus, which is far more interested in eating Kratos than having its heads patted. Best rip those heads off, if it's going to be like that - just one of the brutal finishing moves that return in God of War II.

Cyclops Berserker
It might only have one eye, but that's all it needs to spot the Ghost of Sparta - and once he's done that, the Cyclops Berserker will be keen to get splattering with his massive club. As with any cyclops - there are several types in the game - give this fella some respect as you set about taking him down.

Cursed Remains
Ah, skeletons. From Jason and the Argonauts to God of War II, they're a staple of mythological action romps, and with good reason - there's something brilliant about a walking skeleton. There's something less brilliant about a walking skeleton trying to kill you with a big sword, though, so it's best to put a stop to their reanimated ways as soon as you can.

Titan Minotaur
Be afraid... be very afraid. The Titan Minotaur is as deadly as they come - an enormous beast made from boulders and molten rock. Enormously strong, it'll take a hell of a pounding before Kratos can get on his way. What a nuisance!
