Pro Evolution Soccer, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto and Valkyrie Profile test their latest formations out at Games Convention in Leipzig.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
Visitors to Konami's stand at Leipzig were greeted by the welcome sight of Pro Evolution Soccer on PS3, PSP and PS2. Releasing this autumn, this latest version of the acclaimed football game is a joy to play, feeling even slicker and more responsive than the current PS2 version.
PES 2008 supports Teamvision, a new and unique system of AI that adapts according to your style of play. The idea is that it will learn new ways to attack and defend. Konami's aim is to ensure games are more in line with the tactical but flowing nature of real football.
Building upon this new AI, every aspect of PES play has been reworked and fine-tuned, from pass distribution and dribbling the ball to set pieces and the position of the wall, everything has been improved and more options put under your control.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3
Extreme 3D fighting returns to PS2 in the final chapter of the incredible Budokai Tenkaichi series. 20 new characters from the iconic cartoon show, which have never been seen before in a DBZ videogame, swell the ranks of playable characters to over 150.
Gameplay follows the two previous editions, battles being fought on land and in the air. The fighting techniques available for the numerous characters have been refined and graphically enhanced, while the action now spans over 20 battle stages, including day and night.
Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2
Another cartoon based game attracting younger players at Games Convention was Atari's Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2.
Choosing from over 30 characters, including Naruto, Sasuke and Kakashi, you are challenged to overcome a wide range of missions and mini-games, and compete in 16 battle stages. Ultimate Road story mode lets you explore the key plots of the TV show, success unlocking a brand new storyline, video clips and music to enjoy.
New elements in this second ninja foray include a system of character upgrades that let you enhance your characters strength, defence, chakra, and agility, or purchase special abilities. Chosen wisely, these upgrades can give you a definite edge, letting you lay waste to even the most deadly of enemies.
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria
Square Enix and tri-Ace explore the realms of the Norse gods once more in their gorgeous RPG series, infusing the genre with arcade-like elements and a gripping storyline.
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria follows the story of Princess Alicia of Dipan who is caught up in a dramatic battle being fought by the Norse gods. Her involvement begins when the Valkyrie Silmeria awakens...
tri-Ace have done an incredible job of updating this RPG classic for PlayStation 2 with new 3D environments. Against this rich, visual backdrop the puzzle solving and simultaneous multi-character combat plays out. The latter enables you to take charge of four characters at once, performing actions and combos in tandem, or team-up with a friend.
