Down to a tee
Courses, players and commentary have all been meticulously recreated to mimic the excitement, tension and energy that professional golf delivers.
The Road to the Masters allows you to create your own player and build up your skills throughout the different rounds of golf and mini-games that you compete in, ranging from 18-hole Stableford rounds to long-drive contests. Create a player from scratch or use your PlayStation Eye camera to put your own face in the game with the Photo Game Face feature.
The inclusion of top sponsors such as Ping, Taylormade and Callaway Golf adds even more realism. As you win challenges and tournaments, you'll unlock new clubs, clothing and equipment from these big names to improve your game.
Commentary is provided by legendary American commentator Jim Nantz and former PGA Tour professional David Feherty. The pair create a knowledgeable and charismatic atmosphere filled with memorable quotes.
Inside Augusta takes you on a tour of the distinguished Augusta National course - the target destination of your career in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters on PS3. This in-game guide provides an insight into every hole and even gives tips on how to master the course.
The road to glory
Tiger Woods has previously taken you to the Ryder Cup, the PGA Tour and even the U.S. Open Championship on PlayStation 3. This time, you'll have to step up your game, as Tiger guides you to the prestigious Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.
As an amateur golfer, the new career mode - Road to the Masters - challenges you to compete in tournaments and events, attend Qualification School and earn your PGA Tour Card on your way to one of the biggest golfing events of the year. Visit established courses such as Whistling Straits, Pebble Beach and TPC Sawgrass and play against other amateurs to improve your game, gain top sponsors and get a feel for competitive golf. Each round holds different aims and objectives that you must complete before you can take on the next challenge.
Another new addition to the series is your caddie. He'll help you read greens, suggest clubs and advise you on the best route to the flag. He'll also have some useful information on the course you're playing in his Caddie Book, which you can access at any time.
Outside of the career mode are other Masters-themed tasks for you to tackle. Masters Moments challenges you to recreate historic golfing moments from legends such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player - will you measure up? In Tiger at the Masters, the goal is to match the iconic golfer's scores from the years he won the competition - or even better them if you can.
Move like Tiger
For a truly authentic golfing experience, head to the course with your PlayStation Move motion controller. Use your motion controller as a golf club to recreate your swing in your own living room. Move around the course and select clubs with your wireless controller or PlayStation Move navigation controller.
Even the smallest movements are mimicked on-screen. Add left or right movement to your shot by rotating the motion controller slightly to adjust the club's angle, or control the power of your shot with the length of your backswing.
Take yourself even deeper into the game with the True-Aim feature. This gives you a first person perspective and allows you to look down over the ball before you hit it - just like a real golfer. The camera stays in this position so you can watch your ball sail into the distance, with minimal walking to your next shot.
"Tee up, team Tiger"
Whether you're playing as a team or in a singles match, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters features a multiplayer mode to suit every player.
Up to three players can join you offline in plenty of multiplayer matches such as stroke play, four ball or greensome. Create your own players or pick from one of the many professional golfers, including Paul Casey, Boo Weekley and Jim Furyk.
Take the action online and expand your quest for glory by using your Online Pass to unlock new features. When playing online via PlayStation Network, up to three other players can take to the tee and battle it out in Online Team Play or take part in daily, weekly and live tournaments and loads more besides.
