Nightmare in New Marais
inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood on PlayStation 3 is an entirely new tale that takes place in the world of New Marais in inFAMOUS 2. Unfolding on Pyre Night, a fictional celebration in the city, and told from the perspective of Cole MacGrath's best friend, Zeke Dunbar, the story of inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood begins with Cole venturing deep into the city's catacombs to rescue trapped civilians.
Once inside, Cole finds a young woman yelling for help. Unfortunately for him, she turns out to be a vampire and attacks him, knocking him out and dragging his unconscious body off into the darkness. When Cole awakens he finds himself next to the corpse of an ancient vampire - Bloody Mary. Cole is cut open by one of the bloodsucking minions and used to awaken this centuries old vampire, who quickly begins to feed on him.
Hours later, Cole comes to, disorientated and robbed of his trusty melee weapon, the Amp, and quickly realises he has just one single night to find Bloody Mary and drive a stake through her heart before he is transformed into a creature of the shadows for all eternity from her venomous bite. With new powers and a city overrun by terrifying monsters, this will be one night in New Marais that Cole MacGrath will never forget.
Embrace the darkness
Alongside Cole's huge arsenal of electrical superpowers that you got to experience in inFAMOUS 2 on PlayStation 3, there are a number of new abilities with a suitably sinister twist in inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood now that Cole is a vampire.
The first of these is Swarm, which allows you to transform into hundreds of bats and travel long distances in a short space of time. This new ability is perfect if you need to reach a point of interest on the map that happens to be on the other side of the city. Be warned though, this does use up a large amount of Cole's energy, which can be restored by feeding on the blood of civilians. To replenish energy, simply approach someone and press the R1 button on your wireless controller.
The second new power at Cole's disposal is Vampire Vision, which can be used to detect bloodsuckers hiding as humans and to discover secret passages and hidden locations on the enhanced New Marais map. When battles get heated or you find yourself surrounded by an army of the undead, be sure to break out the Punch Blast, a powerful move that throws enemies off their feet, leaving them wide open to a killing blow such as a stake through the heart.
One of the biggest additions to Cole's powers is the Shadow Stake, which replaces the Amp. It's perfect for battling vampires on the streets of New Marais and, thanks to its sharpened end, is the ultimate weapon for finishing a fanged foe off. To do this, stand over a fallen enemy and press the Square button on your wireless controller before they can get back on their feet and attack you.
With just one single night to save Cole's soul, you're going to have to master every single one of these new powers quickly otherwise New Marais' hero is doomed to an eternity hiding in the shadows and feeding on the innocent.
Create a scare
Once you have battled your way through inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood's main campaign mode, there is still plenty for you to do including exploring the huge map in search of Canopic Jars, special vials of blood that help increase Cole's blood meter. By increasing the blood meter, you won't need to feed as much on unsuspecting civilians wandering the streets of New Marais.
There is also a vast collection of audio logs left behind by Bloody Mary that can be found by scouring every nook and cranny of the map, not to mention roving bands of monsters that need to be slain before the city can return to normal, so be sure to hunt each and every one down to complete the game in its entirety.
Lastly, dynamic, flexible tools and options let you turn any ideas you might have into an exciting mini-game or side mission in just a few moments through inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood's User Generated Content feature. With it, you can customise your idea and refine it before uploading it from your PS3 to PlayStation Network so that the inFAMOUS community can tackle your creation. So be sure to create something horrifying and then watch the blood and sparks fly.
