Read which games the PlayStation Community has spent countless hours playing and find out what makes them so moreish.

Over at the official PlayStation Forums the community has been discussing which games they just can't stop playing and what it is that gives them such longevity. Here are the top time-absorbing titles, along with the pick of the quotes from across Australia and New Zealand.

Skate 2

It's pretty tricky to do the tricks, but is very fun and addictive. At least the bits between playing and wanting to eject the disc and bite it in half. Seriously, the game is enraging / awesome. One minute you'll be going great then all of a sudden you turn into a spazwad and want to hurl the controller at the TV. (SchvagnumPI, AU)

Grand Theft Auto IV

Honestly, when the game was first released I couldn't get enough of it. You can quote me on this 100+ hours spent on the game, and that's without even touching the multiplayer. I've never put those hours into the offline mode of a game that wasn't a RPG. (kiwiatlarge, NZ)

SOCOM: Confrontation

The first SOCOM on a next generation console delivers a tactical online only game experience. There is no possible way for me to win unless the team I am with works together. The perfect game for clans to meet, greet and destroy. (deserteagle, AU)

Metal Gear Online

It's epic fun; great for killing time, making friends and good for competition with survival/tournaments every week. Clan support is great with your own page and make your own clan emblem's customisation with rewards from survival to buy awesome gear and can earn some unique berets from tournaments. (REBELYELL89, AU)

Fallout 3

I love playing the Fallout 3 DLC expansions. (sektanz, NZ)

Resistance 2

Would have to be one of my favourite games of all time, behind Resistance: Fall of Man, of course. (McMicka, AU)

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I almost played myself into Oblivion playing 'Oblivion'. (Baxtor, AU)

Most aptly named game ever, because your life completely disappears once you start playing it. (Gunslinger_75, AU)

Borderlands

The quest for a better gun never ends, even after you beat the game twice with a single character. It's near impossible to find the perfect gun. (GTR34mh, AU)

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

There's no other franchise quite like Uncharted. The Hollywood style storytelling and acting, along with A-grade visuals and fantastic shooting mechanics make them probably the best exclusives on the PS3 - which will go down in history books. (Harlequiine, AU)

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - you literally have no life until you have finished this game; you really need to know how it ends. (Max-Power-X, AU)

Warhawk

382 hours and I'm not even halfway to General. (bmxmad, AU)

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

I have no idea how many hours I have on this game but gold on everything and every single car; great game with a racing wheel and cockpit set-up. (bmxmad, AU)

Final Fantasy X series

The storyline is an amazing combination of love, devastation and betrayal. From Rikku's claw, to Tidus' sword, the game kept me wanting more and more. The creativity and uniqueness displayed in Final Fantasy X would top some of the movies that you watch at home on your TV. (bennoscarmo, AU)

Burnout: Paradise

This was phenomenal - played it through, played it again to get the trophies, and would (and probably will) play it again for kicks. (Axe99, AU)

Thanks to everyone that participated in the discussion. There will be more Obsession Confessions threads in the coming weeks; in the meantime, join the hundreds of conversations happening right now at the official PlayStation Forums.
