Leap into a blast of blockbuster PlayStation 3 games at gamescom 2012. Hollywood doesn't have anything on these action giants...

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

It's for: People who like to go in guns a-blazing.

The shooter everyone is waiting for came out blasting at gamescom 2012 as developer Treyarch revealed more about its multiplayer modes. Leagues with a ranking system and the ability to communicate over live and recorded gameplay were just two of the many things players got to witness.

What they're saying:

"We're so happy we get to share the game with everyone, even at this early stage." - David Vonderhaar, game design director, Treyarch

What you're saying:

"Think my head is going to explode with excitement! Game is looking great!" - ‏@WESTY_12

TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2

It's for: People looking to take down their mates... and still remain friends.

When it comes to deep and engaging fighting action, few series do it better than TEKKEN - and TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2 is coming out swinging to continue this proud pedigree. Stereoscopic 3D compatibility, hugely customisable options and rewarding gameplay team up with the massive World Tekken Federation, a comprehensive and feature-rich subscription service.

What they're saying:

"The Fight Lab and World Tekken Federation make TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2 more accessible and still keep its depth." - Katsuhiro Harada, producer, Namco Bandai

What you're saying:

"A game worthy of legends and powerful characters" - Fidel Cuban Mendoza (Facebook)

Star Trek

It's for: Those who want to boldly go where no one has gone before.

J.J Abrams reboot of the classic sci-fi series took Star Trek to new heights when the film was released in 2009, and now a new game is set to energise Trek fans once again before the big screen sequel beams into cinemas in 2013. Using the likeness of the film's cast, including Chris Pine as Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock, Star Trek takes place between the two movies and promises big set pieces, intricate puzzles and blistering action that any sci-fi fan will enjoy.

With PlayStation Move motion controller compatibility - and a replica phaser gun case being made - Star Trek is shaping up to be an intergalactic adventure worthy of the big stars it features.

What they're saying:

"We've been blessed with the great response to the game so far from Star Trek fans. We really want to push this to the next level." - Brian Miller, senior vice president and game producer, Paramount Pictures

What you're saying:

"Just watched #StarTrekGame trailer. I want to be Spock. Right now." - @dkudirka

Injustice: Gods Among Us

It's for: Anyone who's ever wanted to punch Superman or Batman into a building.

What happens when Wonder Woman goes toe-to-toe with The Flash? Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios gives you all the answers in a beat 'em up where you can literally knock your rival through walls and pick up cars to use as weapons.

Taking the biggest heroes from the DC Comics universe and putting them on a collision course with each other in destructible and interactive environments, Injustice: Gods Among Us shines an engaging new light on our favourite cape wearing champions.

What they're saying:

"It's been a great experience working with DC Comics, and adding a NetherRealm twist to these characters." - Ed Boon, creative director, NetherRealm Studios

What you're saying:

"Who else is excited for @InjusticeGame? Because I sure am! <3" - @thatgirlArely

Dead Space 3

It's for: Those with nerves of steel.

Sci-fi spookiness doesn't get any more intense than this space bound survival horror. Dead Space 3 was one of the games that received some of the loudest applause at the Electronic Arts gamescom 2012 media briefing and the newest trailer showed why. Keep watching the stars... and your back.

What they're saying:

"Dead Space 3 will take you on a heart-pounding rocket ride full of tension and thrills." - Jesse Abney, producer, Electronic Arts

What you're saying:

"Goosebumps..." - Andreas Rusti Johansen (Facebook)

God of War: Ascension

It's for: Venting your mad god rage.

Playable on the show floor, God of War: Ascension's multiplayer gave hundreds of showgoers a taste of the carnage in store. Whether you're with friends or going it alone as Kratos in the single player mode, a brutal rampage awaits.

What they're saying:

"The whole team here at Sony Santa Monica Studios is dedicated to making this the biggest and best God of War yet." - Todd Papy, game director, Sony Santa Monica

What you're saying:

"Man, I can't wait for this. Looks absolutely incredible." - CrazySasquatch

Resident Evil 6

It's for: Anyone who doesn't find regular zombies challenging enough.

Capcom's survival horror is creeping ever closer to its October 2012 launch and continues to impress with a variety of gameplay modes, charismatic characters and an intriguing storyline. Making things even scarier is Agent Hunt mode, where you can take the role of the horrific J'avo and terrorise your friends in the game.

What they're saying:

"We want to make everything as dramatic as possible, from the story to the action, and tie it all together for a great game." - Hiroyuki Kobayashi, executive producer, Capcom

What you're saying:

"I like Jake's sense of humour and his abilities in hand-to-hand combat. As a new character, he already looks awesome." - @MagKingofSpades
