Find out more about hooking up your PSP to your PS3 and sharing content between the two systems.

Remote Play is a feature that lets you share content between your PlayStation 3 and PSP, locally using the devices' in-built Wireless features or remotely via an access point.

Remote Play Settings

The [Remote Play Settings] option under Settings lets you adjust the settings necessary to use the PSP system for remote play.

Register Device: Register the PSP system to be used for remote play with the PS3 system. Follow the on-screen instructions to register (pair) the devices.

Registered Device List: View a list of PSP systems that are registered.

Custom Connection Settings: If you select [Custom Connection Settings], you can manually change the SSID and encryption key to match those that are set on the PS3 system. It is usually not necessary to adjust these settings.

With system software version 1.60, if a USB cable is used to register (pair) a PSP system with a PS3 system, the systems will be able to communicate with each other in Infrastructure Mode.

Registering a device

1. Connect the PSP system and PS3 system using a USB cable.
2. Select [USB Connection] under Settings on the PSP system.
3. Select [Register Device] under Settings > [Remote Play Settings] on the PS3 system.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration (pairing). When the registration is complete, the USB cable can be removed.

Using remote play (via the PS3 system's Wireless LAN feature)

If using this method for remote play, the PSP system software must be version 3.10 or later.

1. Select [Remote Play] under [Network] in the PS3 system's Home Menu. The system will enter remote play connection standby mode.
2. Select [Remote Play] under [Network] in the PSP system's Home Menu.
3. Select [PlayStation®3] from the list of connections. If the connection is successful, the PS3 system screen will be displayed on the PSP system.

Using remote play (via an access point)

1. Register (pair) the PSP system with the PS3 system.
2. Create a network connection for connecting the PSP system to an access point. For details on creating a network connection, refer to the user's guide for the PSP system. If the PSP system is already connected to a network via an access point, you do not have to create a new network connection.
3. Select [Remote Play] under Network in the PS3 system's Home Menu. The system will enter remote play connection standby mode.
4. Select [Remote Play] under Network in the PSP system's Home Menu.
5. From the list of connections, select the connection for the access point to be used for remote play. If the connection is successful, the PS3 system screen will be displayed on the PSP system.

Notes:

• A wireless router is an access point equipped with router functionality. An access point is a device that allows you to connect to a network wirelessly. A router is a device used when sharing one Internet connection among multiple devices.
• A modem may be equipped with router functionality. Connect the PS3 system to a device that is equipped with router functionality.
• If the access point and modem both are equipped with router functionality, turn the router functionality off on one of these devices. The PS3 system and PSP system must be connected within the same network. If two or more routers are used at the same time, the PS3 system and PSP system may be connected to separate networks and you may not be able to use remote play.

Using remote play (via the Internet)

Using the access point of a public wireless LAN service, you can connect the PSP system to the PS3 system within your home over the Internet. By setting the PS3 system in remote play connection standby mode, you can use remote play even when you are far away from home.

1. Connect to the Internet via a wired or wireless connection
2. Connect to the PS3 system using an Internet connection
3. An access point outside of the home

• To use this function, the PSP system software must be version 3.50 or later. The version 3.50 update is planned for release at the end of May 2007.
• To use remote play over the Internet, you must have a Sony Entertainment Network account.
• The method of using a public wireless LAN service and the charges for such use vary depending on the service provider. For details, contact the service provider.

1. Select [Sign In] under Friends in the PS3 system's Home Menu. To use remote play over the Internet, you must sign in to PlayStation Network.
2. Select [Remote Play] under Network in the PS3 system's Home Menu. The system will enter remote play connection standby mode and your sign-in ID will be displayed.
3. Select [Remote Play] under Network in the PSP system's Home Menu.
4. Select [Connect via Internet] as the method of connecting to the PS3 system.
5. From the list of connections, select the connection for the access point to be used for remote play.
6. Enter the PlayStation Network sign-in ID and password that are being used by the PS3 system.

If the connection is successful, the PS3 system screen will be displayed on the PSP system.

• For details about remote play, refer to the user's guide for the PS3 system software.
• To connect the PSP system to a PS3 system and use remote play from a location far away from home, the PS3 system must be set in remote play connection standby mode in step 2 above.

Audio Output Device

The [Audio Output Device] option can be found under Settings > [Remote Play Settings] in the PS3 Home Menu.

With this option, you can use your PSP system as a remote control for playing audio on your PS3 system. If your PS3 system is connected to an audio output device such as an AV receiver, you can operate the device without turning on your TV.

You can set which system plays audio during remote play with a PSP system.
