What It's Like To Play

Presentation

Step onto the court

From the basic lessons at the Top Spin Academy to major tournaments, Top Spin 4 has a realistic visual style that closely mirrors famous tennis tournaments such as Wimbledon and the French Open.

In Career Mode, the tension is high. The crowd gasp and cheer at every shot, and if things get too heated the announcer may even have to ask them to be quiet. The players grunt and shout as they smash the ball back and forth, and there is a real sense of achievement when you win even a minor match against a professional.

In addition to the huge self-satisfaction and higher world rankings, winning tournaments will also unlock new clothing items and locations for your player to enjoy.

See your player, your opponent and the entire crowd spring to life when you play Top Spin 4 in amazing stereoscopic 3D. You'll be able to judge distances and depths much more accurately and get even closer to the action. Locations from Hong Kong to Dublin are wonderfully picturesque in 3D and every point you win will seem even more impressive.

Do you have what it takes?

Gameplay

Do you have what it takes?

Determination, lightning reactions and a lot of stamina. These are just three essential attributes that you'll need to succeed in the grand slam tennis title on PlayStation 3 - Top Spin 4.

Before you step foot onto a court, you'll need to pick a player. This is a simple task, and with a whole host of sporting legends to choose from - including Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Serena Williams - you're spoilt for choice. Alongside the 25 professional players, you can also create your own star set on making the big time.

Career mode is where your newly-created player will play in tournaments, gain fans and rise up the ranks. Along the way you'll face top players with their own distinct strengths and abilities - some will try to catch you out with a quick flick over the net, while others will have you running all over the court just to return the ball. Hit back by finding their weakness and using it against them.

You'll probably need a bit of practice before you give up your day job, so head over to the Top Spin Academy where a coach will teach you everything from returning the ball to smashing a top volley.

Serve it up

There's no need to leave the house for a brilliantly authentic tennis experience thanks to Top Spin 4 - in fact, all you need is your PlayStation Move motion controller.

With PlayStation Move, every serve, swing and smash can be perfectly recreated. Use your motion controller just like a tennis racket to hit the ball, while manoeuvring your player around the court with your DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller or PlayStation Move navigation controller in your other hand.

It's easy to find yourself crouching slightly and moving from side to side in anticipation of your opponent's serve - as any professional tennis player would. The crowd will cheer you on as you keep the rally going with backhands, volleys and smashes that are wonderfully brought to life through PlayStation Move.

Anyone for tennis?

Multiplayer

Anyone for tennis?

Up to four players can join in the fast and furious King of the Court mode. This extensive multiplayer is playable online via PlayStation Network, or offline, if you want to get your friends round for some tournament tennis.

Choose the winning number of points, the court and the duration of each game then take on your opponents. After each game, the winner will stay on and another player will try to beat them to earn a place in the next round. Once all the matches have been played, the player with the most points will be crowned King of the Court.

Take on tennis legends such as Boris Becker, Andre Agassi or Rafael Nadal in Exhibition mode and see if you have the skills to play with the pros. Need a helping hand? Why not team up with a partner and take on two tennis stars in a doubles match?
