The PlayStation®Home Closed Beta test is being extended. Read on for the details.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that it will extend the closed beta testing period for PlayStation®Home gradually throughout summer 2008. PlayStation®Home will then transition to an open beta towards the end of 2008, when it will become available to download for all registered PlayStation®Network users.
PlayStation®Home is the visual representation of the PlayStation® Community - a free-to-download, constantly evolving online social gaming service built for PlayStation®3 users to meet and share gaming experiences in a High Definition 3D world.
"We understand that we are asking PlayStation®3 and prospective PlayStation®3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today", said Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "Our overarching objective is to provide users with new game experiences that are available only on PlayStation®Home. Spending more time on the development and on the Closed Beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation® tradition."
Further details about this exciting new service will be announced as they become available, so keep checking au.playstation.com for a chance to get involved in PlayStation®Home.
