Your enemies are fast, cunning and wield many weapons that can often kill you in one strike. So study this survival guide and learn how to make the most of your stay in the dangerous world of Resident Evil 5. Good luck...
Bio-terrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) handbook for hostile situationsStudy your environment One of the first things a good BSAA agent will rely on is the ability to use your environment to good effect. That means keeping your eyes open. Loose cupboards and shelving can be pushed to barricade potential entry points if you're closed off, while anything electrical or explosive, such as live wires, fuel canisters or barrels should be used - make sure you time your shot so you can take out as many targets as you can.
Pick your shots You've been through this many times on the training grounds, yet it bears repeating: make every shot count. Spraying ammunition everywhere just means you'll get a few lucky hits before the rest of your targets overwhelm you. Use the laser sighting on your rifle to aim carefully in respect of the situation you're in. If you need time, aim for the legs and knees to put your man down. To reduce the threat, shoot their hands or arms to disarm them.
Although head shots should always be the quickest way to neutralise a threat, be cautious - we have intelligence that some of the villagers have been... altered in disturbing ways... and this tactic may only put you in more danger.
Don't forget your close quarters training Relying too much on your firearm may leave you in compromising positions should you run low on ammunition. Make sure your close quarter skills are proficient, whether that's through your edged weapon or unarmed. The most opportunistic time is when a target is stunned or downed, where a swift uppercut or similar can be most effective, even against the biggest of foes. Do not dally once you're done - stick and move.
Be familiar with your inventory Many a rookie has been caught short trying to reload or rearm at the worst possible time. Be aware of what you are carrying and how much you have. Train yourself with the quick-map inventory function which lets you switch in and out of your items swiftly without obscuring your viewpoint - it will save your life.
Watch each other's back We know you're used to handling these sorts of missions on your own. Even with two of you the temptation to keep your old tactics and habits may arise. Don't give in to them. This is a two person operation. Never hoard your findings - exchange items freely and make sure your partner isn't too far away in case one of you is in trouble or in need of medical attention. Let's be careful out there - a repeat of the Racoon City incidents is unacceptable.
Public Assembly mission dossierYour goal here is pure survival against overwhelming odds - dozens of villagers will swarm you and your partner and your job is to stay alive until some explosive back-up arrives. Keep your cool, agent. Help is on its way.
Be dynamic As you're in a small cabin at first, there's a temptation to keep your back to the wall and pick off as many hostiles as you can. This tactic will eventually backfire when the faster foes come for you, especially when the brutish axe-hammer wielding executioner appears. Keep moving, with your partner covering the areas you can't see, and when there's a chance to get out into the open, use it. You'll need as much space as you can to fend off the onslaught.
Don't try and be a hero You may be skilled with your firearm, agent, but there are just too many targets here to neutralise them all. Defend yourself, yet don't go looking for a fight - there's no shame in turning tail. You only have to stay safe until back-up reaches the hot zone.
Shanty Town mission dossierYour mission objective is to find your way through the shanty town into a clear exit. Based on prior events, expect resistance. Use of deadly force is authorised.
Search everywhere We've learned ammunition and supplies have been hidden in crates and barrels, so do not hesitate to destroy them and recover the items. This mission will be perilous and potentially lengthy, so you'll need everything you can find.
Teamwork makes the dream work Your partner's firearm specifically compliments your own, so work together. Let a rifleman take high vantage points, while the other's machine gun should make short work of close encounters. Set up a crossfire and be creative to keep hostiles at bay - this is especially essential if you come across more resilient and dangerous locals.
