The world's biggest online football tournament, the FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC), kicks off today with even more opportunity to qualify for the Grand Final.
The FIFA Interactive World Cup 2010 saw around 780,000 players battle it out for the title, and the world's biggest virtual football tournament returns this year, starting with the first online season today, 1st December 2010.
To make the online qualifying stages more flexible and accessible, for the first time in the tournament's history FIWC 2011 will be split into six mini seasons, each lasting 25 days, beginning on the first of every month, from 1st December 2010 through to 25th May 2011. The top two players from each of these seasons will go through to the Grand Final, which will take place in June 2011, for their chance to be crowned FIFA Interactive Player of the Year.
In addition to the online qualifying seasons, players have the chance to participate in one of ten live qualifier events that will be held around the world. The live event victors will join the winners of the online qualifiers in the Grand Final. Details of these events and their location will be released over the coming weeks so stay tuned to FIFA.com/FIWC.
