Find out which PlayStation Vita games gave us goose bumps of excitement at gamescom 2012.

PlayStation Vita took gamescom 2012 by storm, unleashing a volley of great games which should whet everyone's appetite for the coming months and beyond. Here's a tantalising taster of what you'll be enjoying.

FIFA 13

EA SPORTS' football series stunned fans when it made its debut at the launch of PS Vita and it's not dropping the ball now thanks to a sensational follow up. FIFA 13 offers the great gameplay that the series is known for, while taking things to the next level - make your shots stronger by moving the PS Vita system while you're shooting and navigate your way through stadiums using the touchscreen.

And with the rear touch pad for accurate shooting, you can make sure the only time your friends get to touch the ball is when they're picking your shots out from the back of the net. For the definitive football experience on the move, FIFA 13 is going be difficult to beat.

Killzone: Mercenary

Drawing audible gasps from the impressed audience at the Sony Computer Entertainment Europe media briefing, Killzone: Mercenary is already creating a long queue of people impatiently waiting to get their hands on the sci-fi shooter. A short teaser video showed off frantic action and touchscreen melee attacks, not to mention the high quality visuals expected of the much loved Killzone series.

Assassin's Creed III: Liberation

Sharp stealth action comes with the territory in Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, and this eagerly awaited action adventure has more than its fair share. Not only can you shuffle through the crowded streets of New Orleans to stalk your targets, you can also traverse, create melee attacks, hide and solve puzzles using the touchscreen. And with PS Vita, you can get in a sneaky game wherever you are.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified

The towering first person shooter series has PS Vita in its sights and promises to be every bit as compelling as its PlayStation 3 counterpart. Set between Call of Duty: Black Ops and the forthcoming PS3 sequel, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified is all about offering you versatility and playability.

For single players, an objective based campaign mode, survival mode and time trials will keep you on your toes, while for those who prefer to take on human opposition, the multiplayer mode packs the punch you expect from a Call of Duty title.

Four vs four online play is the order of the day, with a variety of classic Call of Duty modes to blow away your friends - Free-For-All, Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed have been revealed, with more to come. Share information with mates using "near" and use the touchscreen to order border strikes, cook grenades and hold your breath while sniping.

Tearaway

Surprising everyone who saw it, Media Molecule's delightfully charming and innovate Tearaway had even the most sceptical showgoers coveting its craft-like visuals and refreshingly different gameplay.

Mimicking the style of colorful paper for its characters and setting, this 3D adventure by the creators of LittleBigPlanet has you tilting the PS Vita system to rid yourself of some enemies, poking holes in the game's environments using the rear touch pad and creating new patterns and designs for animals in need by using the rear camera. And that's just scratching the surface. After all, you can do so many things with paper...

Need For Speed Most Wanted

This slick and sleek racing game has already captured the imagination of some showgoers, leading it to be classed as one of gamescom 2012's hidden gems. Why? Take the high octane speed and thrills of the PlayStation 3 version of Need For Speed Most Wanted, complete with varied routes, powerful cars and heart-pumping challenges, add polished fuel injected visuals and some touchscreen features to help you manipulate the on-screen display, and finish it all off with the portability of PlayStation Vita and you have a game which will get anyone's motor running.

Street Fighter X TEKKEN

PS Vita has already proven itself as the perfect system for fighting games, and now Street Fighter X TEKKEN is looking to knock out the competition. The beat 'em up action is fast, furious and relentless - and Capcom's brawler isn't a brainless bruiser, either. Smart use has been made of the touchscreen to help beginners create combination shortcuts, as well as making the menu screens a breeze to use. And if you want to duke it out against PlayStation 3 Street Fighter X TEKKEN players, the cross-platform features deliver a seamless experience.

There's more to come on PlayStation Vita and if you've not yet treated yourself to the system everyone is talking about, now is the perfect time. Make sure you keep reading au.playstation.com to stay up to date on all the latest PS Vita games heading your way.
