Get the most out of your Pottermore at PlayStation Home experience on PlayStation 3 with these useful tips from the team at London Studios.
Pottermore at PlayStation Home lets you step inside locations from the Harry Potter™ stories and explore them in 3D. Soak up the sights and sounds of Diagon Alley™, where witches and wizards go for everything they need, and hop aboard the Hogwarts™ Express for a journey with fellow students.
In between visiting the likes of Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions and Eeylops Owl Emporium, try your hand at a series of brand new mini-games! Here are some hints from the makers of Pottermore at PlayStation Home to get you started.
Linking to your Pottermore.com account
Before beginning in Pottermore at PlayStation Home, you'll be given the opportunity to link your online ID with your account on Pottermore.com, the free-to-use website from J.K. Rowling. Simply enter your Pottermore.com username and password using the App on the PlayStation Home Navigator, and you'll unlock additional content and spaces in Pottermore at PlayStation Home.
Once you have progressed past the Sorting Ceremony found in Chapter Seven of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone™ on Pottermore.com and are a member of one of the four Hogwarts houses, you'll find some special items in Pottermore at PlayStation Home that are only accessible to those who have linked their accounts. There will also be additional interactive content and spaces in the future that will only be accessible to those who have linked their Pottermore.com account.
Head down one of the passageways in Diagon Alley and you'll come across the Book Herding mini-game for two to four players to take part in. Crates of enchanted books have spilled out across the square here and it is your job to round up as many of them as you can.
That's easier said than done, for these books are determined to escape your clutches and your rivals will do everything they can to disrupt you. A handy little tip is to save your Dungbombs – which will send the books flapping away – for the really opportune moments. For instance, if someone casts Alohomora to free the books from their cages, a cleverly aimed Dungbomb will scatter the books all over the place. When used at the right time, this can be brilliantly effective.
Pottermore Trading Cards
There are more than 100 Pottermore Trading Cards to be acquired, found and traded throughout Pottermore at PlayStation Home.
Whilst you can search every nook and cranny of Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express or sit down at a trading table to fill up your Pottermore Trading Card album, you can also earn cards by competing in mini-games. Your performances in mini-games such as Book Herding and Wizard's Duel will affect your chances of earning a card, so gathering up the most books in Book Herding nets you a higher chance of a card than finishing fourth.
In the doorway of a Hogwarts Express carriage stands a lookout, keeping an eye open for any teachers or Prefects who might interrupt students secretly practising their duelling skills. Approach him to begin your own Wizard's Duel, in which you and an opponent each attempt to defeat the other with your spells.
Facing an opponent that likes to hide behind things? If you can aim it just right, hitting the lamps above with a spell will briefly disorientate your opponent, giving you the perfect moment to strike.
Some of the compartments of the Hogwarts Express house a Pottermore Quiz. While the majority of the quiz questions focus on the Harry Potter books, some of the trickier answers can only be found by exploring the wealth of information on Pottermore.com. Head over there now on your PS3 to find out more about the Harry Potter stories.
