Where do I download the Digital Comics Reader application?
To download the free Digital Comics Reader, simply select [Digital Comics] from the PSP system's XMB™ Menu under Extras when connected to the Internet*. To download the Digital Comics Reader using a PC, please visit au.playstation.com/digitalcomicshelp for step by step instructions.
Which system software version do I need on my PSP to use Digital Comics?
The Digital Comics Reader requires PSP system software version 6.20 or higher. Make sure you've updated to at least this version of the system software. To check which version of the system software is installed on your PSP, or to update your system software, please visit au.playstation.com/psp.
What can I do if I don't have a Digital Comics icon on my XMB Menu?
The Digital Comics Reader requires PSP system software version 6.20 or higher. Make sure you've updated to at least this version of the system software. To check which version of the system software is installed on your PSP, or to update your system software, please visit au.playstation.com/psp.
How do I find out more about the features and menu options available in the Digital Comics Reader application?
For information and advice on using the Digital Comics Reader, you can download the manual from au.playstation.com/psp/support.
Where can I buy Digital Comics?
You can buy comics from PlayStation Store using an internet-enabled PSP. Alternatively, Digital Comics can be purchased through Media Go using a PC.
To access PlayStation Store, a PlayStation Network account is required. If you do not have a PSN account already, you will need to create one by using either a Wi-Fi enabled PSP or a PS3 system. You can find further details on how to create a PSN account at au.playstation.com/psn/support.
If you own a PSP-E1000 series system, you will need to use Media Go 2.0 or above.
How does using the Digital Comics Reader on a PSPgo (PSP-N1000 series) system differ from the PSP (PSP-1000/2000/3000/E1000 series) systems?
PSPgo offers internal System Storage in addition to Memory Stick support. When downloading software and additional content to PSPgo you are offered the choice of System Storage or a Memory Stick as a storage location.
The Digital Comics Reader is downloaded and installed to the System Storage, therefore all comics must also be downloaded to System Storage (if they are moved later to a Memory Stick, then the Digital Comics Reader will no longer be able to access them).
The Digital Comics Reader will not launch on a PSPgo if installed on a Memory Stick.
When launched from System Storage on a PSPgo, the Digital Comics Reader will not recognise comics installed on a Memory Stick.
Which Digital Comic file formats are supported?
All comics downloaded from PlayStation Store use a custom format that allows us to provide the high quality artwork, AutoFlow system and database categorisation unique to the Digital Comics Reader. Unfortunately, this means you can't make or view your own comics or use other comics file formats with the Digital Comics Reader.
What are the supported music formats in the Digital Comics Reader?
The built-in MP3 Player can play most standard MP3 files. All normal sampling frequencies (32KHz/ 44.1KHz/ 48KHz) and bit rates (32 - 320 kbps / VBR (Variable Bit Rate)) are supported.
The player also supports standard playlists in MP4, AAC, M3U, PLS or WPL format.
All music and playlist files should be placed in standard music locations (/MUSIC, /PSP/MUSIC or /MP3). Sub folders are allowed in each of these locations.
How do I delete a Digital Comic from my collection?
If you're running out of free space, you can delete comics from your collection. Simply browse to the item and press the Square button. You can also delete single items or a series from the carousel and, if you change your mind at a later date, you can re-download items that you delete as many times as you like.
Alternatively, you can connect your PSP system to a PC and use Media Go to delete items from your collection of comics.
Why am I getting a 8010A12E error message?
Some users see this error code after downloading free comics, which indicates a problem with DRM activation. To overcome the error, go to PlayStation®Network > [Account Management] > [System Activation] on the XMB Menu, select [Video/Comics] and choose [Deactivate]. When complete, repeat the process, this time choosing [Activate].
Note that comic voucher codes can only be redeemed once; once used the comics will appear in your PSP Download List (found in PlayStation®Network > [Account Management] > [Transaction Management]).
Why doesn't my PSP display the Digital Comics icon, or the Extras XMB Menu category, after upgrading to system software version 6.20?
PSP system software differs in different regions of the world. If you downloaded the system software update for Japan for example, then your PSP system will display an icon for another comics application which is not currently compatible with the Digital Comics service.
Some other regions have not received the comics service, and therefore do not display the Extras category.
How do I upgrade to the the very latest version of the Digital Comics Reader?
If you don't have the Digital Comics Reader application on your PSP yet, find out how to install it at eu.playstation.com/digitalcomicshelp.
If you are already using the Digital Comics Reader, check which version you are currently using. To do this, navigate to the Digital Comics icon on your XMB Menu and press the Triangle button. Select [version information] from the available options. If you see 1.01, you need to upgrade.
As long as you are connected to the Internet, select [Yes] to launch the browser and follow the on-screen instructions to download version 2.01 of the Digital Comics Reader.
If you don't have a Wi-Fi connection, or if you have a PSP-E1000 series system, visit au.playstation.com/digitalcomicshelp for instructions on how to download the Digital Comics Reader application from a connected PC.
