In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Voldemort is tightening his grip evermore on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was thought to be. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching as the saga nears its end.
Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defences and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information.
Love is in the air
Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage among the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates.
Then there's Hermione, simmering with jealously and determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again. Oh yes, it's just another year at Hogwarts for Harry and his friends.
As Harry, you must retrieve a memory from Professor Slughorn in order to unlock the mysteries of the Half-Blood Prince, and this goal and the many others in the game can be played any way you like. Players can either opt to explore the grounds, completing the various tasks in the game in their order, or they can choose to try and collect as many of the unlockables strewn throughout the game by taking part in the mini-games or casting spells on various items around Hogwarts.
These mini-games include Gobstones where Harry must first play the Traditional mode where he's required to knock more Gobstones out of a ring than his opponent before gaining access to the two additional modes, Snake Pit and Jack Gobstones. The other is Exploding Snap where Harry must match pairs of Wizard cards to gain the highest score and also unlock Quidditch player cards as bonus items.
Players can also duel with enemies in mini-games and play Wizard Skittles where the goal is to knock down as many skittles as possible in the allotted goes. He can also brew loads of potions by following the instructions on screen and matching the button prompts. The better you perform at brewing a particular potion, the more potent it will be.
Become a champion
When you feel like a change, you can take a break from the quests and mini-games and start a career in Quidditch, the school's high speed aerial sport that fans of the film and book will find brilliantly addictive. Here, Harry can catch the Golden Snitch, qualify for the team, join in on the practice sessions and play against rival houses to become a Quidditch hero.
With such a huge wealth of different ways to play Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter fans and adventure seekers are in for hours of fun with this magical PSP experience.
