Master hundreds of moves, wield mighty weapons and unleash the wrath of Kratos, the God Of War, in SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny, only on PSP!

In the end, there can only be chaos

The mighty SoulCalibur has returned once more, only this time it's making its PSP debut in an exclusive addition to the worldwide smash hit beat-'em-up series that conquered arcades and saw Darth Vader rule the SoulCalibur universe in last year's PS3 brawler, SoulCalibur 4. Players are given the chance to test their fighting skills using a whopping 28 characters, each one possessing an array of devastating moves alongside huge swords, staffs and blades.

Most of the series regulars return for another bout of brawling including Astaroth and Siegfried, alongside two brand new characters exclusive to PSP. Dampierre, the first of the new fighters, is a self-proclaimed genius conman that travels the world and plays up in the ring. During fights he feigns injuries before sneakily attacking opponents with a pair of hidden daggers cleverly concealed on both of his arms.

The other is someone who should be familiar to all PlayStation fans: God Of War's Kratos, the legendary Spartan Warrior who took down Ares and assumed his throne and mantle. Equipped with the Blades of Chaos, Kratos possesses deadly long range attacks and brutal and powerful short range stabs. For fans of the God Of War series, Broken Destiny offers up an entirely new way to take control of hulking slayer, Kratos.

Embark on a quest for survival

There are a number of match options available from the outset such as Quick Match, which allows you to dive straight into a battle with an opponent to get used to the control system. Trial Mode sees you take on a number of challenges ranging from the simple ones such as Trial Of Attack, where you must amass points by chaining attacks together. It's here that mastering Broken Destiny's huge wealth of combo attacks comes into play.

Trial Of Defence sees players once again chaining various attacks, only this time they must be performed once you have successfully blocked an opponent's attack. The final Trial mode is Endless Trial, where you face a limitless number of enemies once after another with the sole goal of obtaining the highest score possible before your character is defeated.

The main mode in Broken Destiny is The Gauntlet, where you are tasked with taking on a journey in a story-driven mission that sees you follow Hilde around the world in search of medicine for her ill father. Each mission in The Gauntlet is comprised of objectives such as blocking a series of attacks before countering or performing certain moves in order to progress.

Design a fighter

Packing in stunning graphics that showcase the power of PSP, Broken Destiny also allows players to create their own character just as they did in SoulCalibur 4. You can either create a totally original fighter or customise one of the existing fighters on the roster.

Choosing from either a male of female character you can select from a series of preset fighting styles. Once a style is chosen, you can then either randomise your fighter's equipment set or choose it yourself from a series of options. These include everything from chain mail, headbands, gloves, footwear and even horns.

When happy with this, you can then adjust the size of your fighter's equipment, change the colour, select voice pitch, haircut style and face shape. The final stage in the deep character creation is Style and Weapon where you can choose from the huge range of weapons the game's character's have at their disposal before finalising their character design and heading into battle.

Put your moves to the test

Alongside the epic storyline and multiple modes, Broken Destiny also features Ad Hoc Mode, which lets players face off against each other in any of the arenas available in the game using either characters from the game or their own customised fighter. You can test your skills against anyone else who also owns a copy of SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny, offering up endless hours of multiplayer fun for beat-'em-up fans and any newcomers to the hugely popular fighting series.
