The PlayStation community recounts the best boss battles from the epic God of War series.

For this edition of Obsession Confessions, the PlayStation community flexed mind and muscle to draw on the finest boss battle moments from Kratos' vengeance fuelled quest against the gods. Check out the best brawls below (in no particular order) along with quotes from the official PlayStation Forums.

1. "The sisters of fate in God of War II; mainly for the satisfaction at finally beating it after all that time" (GunslingerNZ, New Zealand).

2. "My favourite boss battle pre-God of War III has to be the final battle against Zeus in God of War II. It wasn't just a battle for vengeance, it was also a battle for possession of the Blade of Olympus" (silverskull_86, Australia).

3. "Honestly, I just can't get past the first fight in God of War - the Hydra. It's the one that set the tone for the entire series. The balance of tension, action and puzzle is perfect, and it's challenging for people new to the series, or otherwise (like myself, replaying it in GoW Collection). That first time you play it, you're like "holy ****, this is the FIRST boss?". An incredible feeling" (Megabnonsai, Australia).

4. "I'm not sure it is technically a boss fight in the traditional sense, but the whole Chronos 'fight' sequence in God of War III was an interactive cinematic marvel. In a similar way, the whole opening sequence of the game wandering around on Gaia, ending with a boss fight versus Poseidon is also pretty up there. Right up to the first person perspective pummeling before Poseidon falls to his death, this 'epilogue' sequence really lets you know you are about to indulge in one hell of a (violent) roller coaster ride" (kiwiatlarge, New Zealand).

5. "Fight on Gaia at the start of God of War III. That's how you start a game. Not only is the fight itself impressive but the whole environment is as well. Makes you really notice the size of Kratos compared to the forces around him" (sidawg2, New Zealand).

Thanks to all those who got involved and contributed via the official PlayStation Forums. The five battles listed above have each scored themselves a God of War III t-shirt.

And special mention goes to...

  • "My favourite boss would be in God of War III out of pure satisfaction. HERMES because after chasing the little **** it felt so great to finally catch him and slice his legs off and shut that annoying giggle up" (King_Nothing6, New Zealand).

  • My favourite boss battle was with Aphrodite; seriously though it has to be Chronos or Poseidon in God of War III" (tjohn323, Australia).

Check back for more Obsession Confessions, very soon.
