Insert and format Memory Stick Duo

Find out how to set up a Memory Stick Duo for use with your PSP.

Inserting Memory Stick Duo

1. Insert Memory Stick Duo
Open the Memory Stick Duo slot cover on the left side of the PSP system and insert the Memory Stick Duo in the direction of the arrow, ensuring that the side with writing on it is facing away from you.

2. Eject Memory Stick Duo.
To eject the Memory Stick Duo, open the slot cover and press gently inwards on the Memory Stick Duo to release it.

Formatting Memory Stick Duo

You must format a Memory Stick Duo before using it with your PSP. Doing so will create the necessary folders for storing and media files on the Memory Stick Duo.

Any existing data on the Memory Stick Duo will be erased during the process, so ensure that you have made a backup of any files that you wish to keep before proceeding.

1. Select the "Format Memory Stick" option
The option is found within the [System Settings] menu, underneath Settings.

2. Format the Memory Stick Duo
You will be prompted to confirm you would like to format the Memory Stick Duo - select "Yes" using the directional buttons and press the X button to proceed.

3. Confirm your choice
Because formatting the Memory Stick Duo erases all data, you will be asked again to confirm that you would like to proceed. In order to proceed and format the Memory Stick Duo, press the X button.
